Aluminum Oxide vs Zirconia Flap Disc
Sometimes it is difficult to choose the right quality flap wheels. As you can see there is Aluminum Oxide vs Zirconia Flap Disc, details are as following:
Alumina is a very common technical ceramic material. Zirconia, including yttrium stabilized zirconia (YSZ), is also widely used in machinery industries. Since both of them are oxide material and could be sintered without vacuum, they share a lot in manufacturing equipment and have a similar appearance. However, there are still quite a lot of differences between these two materials.
1. Application:
Aluminum Oxide: is suitable for grinding of welds on general metals, carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, etc. Zirconia Aluminum: Mainly used for heavy-duty grinding, suitable for grinding heat-resistant alloy steel, titanium alloy and authentic stainless steel, etc.
2. Performance & Cost
Zirconia Aluminum is a blend of Zirconia and Aluminum Oxide grain. As the wear resistance for zirconia is much better,Zirconia parts will last longer with the higher grinding speed in machines and has less contamination as grinding jar. Zirconia is generally better in the industrial market which provides a very good cut rate-to-cost ratio.
Aluminum Oxide – Aluminum Oxide:
This is the original metalworking abrasive. It’s also the lowest-cost option. Today, it is popularly recommended for smaller jobs where the product being produced with low-cost.
