How to read the grinding wheel specifications

Grinding wheel diameter x grinding wheel thickness x arbor hole size –
We will quote AA Abrasive #60397-12x2x1-1 / 4 T-1 Ceramic Wheel T-1 Ceramic A36 from the series of ceramic bonded grinding wheels.
12 = diameter x 2 = thickness x 1-1 / 4 = arbor hole
*Please note that the bushing holes can be lined down, which means that bushings can be inserted into the bushing holes to reduce the size of the bushing holes.

What do the rest of the instructions after the size mean?

T-1 indicates that the grinding wheel is flat. This is also known as a 1 type grinding wheel or a straight tool room grinding wheel.
Vitrification is the bonding agent of the grinding wheel;
A36 – A indicates that it is an alumina wheel, and 36 indicates that the wheel is composed of medium-grained grit. See the granularity table below.
A / O also means alumina;
RPM is the number of revolutions per minute or maximum speed – not all specifications can display this value. Tools, grinding wheels and applications must be consistent to ensure safe operation.

Grain type:
A-dark alumina – the most common granule. For heavy duty general purpose.norton grinding wheel specifications
AS3- 20% ceramic alumina, 30% pink particles, 50% white particles. Great for shape and corner retention.
AZ-Blue Alumina – Excellent cold cutting performance for fast grinding and minimal dressing.
RA-Red Alumina (Ruby) – Harder and sharper than PA and AZ wheels, suitable for steel with high chromium content
PA-alumina powder – universal grain, hard but brittle. The tool room sharpens the application.
WA-white alumina – highly fragile particles for fast cold cutting. Suitable for light grinding of all steels, especially tool steels and die steels.
GC-Green Silicon Carbide – Very fragile for hard alloy grinding applications.
